About O'Leno State Park

O'Leno State Park

Located in northern Florida, O'Leno State Park spans approximately 6,000 acres and is known for its diverse ecosystems and significant geological features. The park is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail and provides habitats for various flora and fauna, including white-tailed deer, gopher tortoises, and wild turkey. Historically, the area was inhabited by Native American tribes and later became a bustling 19th-century settlement known as Keno, eventually renamed O'Leno. The park's most notable geological feature is the Santa Fe River, which mysteriously disappears underground into the Bellamy Cave System, a phenomenon known as the River Sink, and reemerges over three miles away. Recreational opportunities abound in O'Leno State Park with miles of well-maintained trails for hikers and cyclists. Anglers can enjoy fishing in the river while the park's rich history is evident in its historic structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. With its combination of lush landscapes, unique geological features, and historical significance, O'Leno State Park appeals to a wide range of visitors.
